Tattoo After Care

Each time tattooing is performed the client (and if applicable, the parent or guardian) shall receive oral and written instructions on the care of the area tattooed.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS: TATTOOING after-care instructions:

1. for at least two weeks, minimize exposure to the sun, and discourage swimming in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water; you may shower as normal.

2. properly cleanse the tattooed area with antibacterial soap and water 3 to 4 times daily. Pat drying the tattooed area with a clean disposable paper towel afterwards.

3. apply a moisturizing lotion. We recommend cerave or curel hand lotions. Remember to apply multiple thin coats thru the day rather than one huge coat. Thin coats will keep the area better moisturized.

4. use sterile bandage(s) or other sterile dressing(s) when necessary; if saniderm or dermabond was used please allow it to stay on the tattooed area as long as possible a minimum of 5 days. This protects your tattoo better than any other form of bandage used to date. YES WE REALIZE ink bags are a thing, but it’s not harmful to your tattoo. For removal of the saniderm or dermabond we suggest removing in the shower to minimize mess, and allowing the warm water to help release the adhesive. Please remove slowly, and not in a quick rip.

5. do not pick, scratch, or rub on your tattoo. This will cause irritation and if there are any scabs it could cause improper healing of your tattoo.

6. the client shall consult a health care practitioner at the first sign of infection or an allergic reaction, and report any diagnosed infection, allergic reaction, or adverse reaction resulting from the tattoo to the artist and to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Tattoo and Body Piercing Program at (512) 834-6711.
